Entrepreneurial burnout

One of my favorite series is The Bear, which dives into an industry and a character that thrives in serving others but can also take over your life, time, and energy and lead to burnout.

Entrepreneurs and business owners generally start out with excitement and passion as they open their business doors full of energy and pride.

Unfortunately, entrepreneurs often experience burnout, do a quick Google search and your screen will show articles and blog posts on tips, tricks, opinions, statistics, and steps to take. This shows just how challenging it is to run a business. Excitement turns to exhaustion, pride turns to resentment and both mental and physical health suffers.

𝗦𝗼 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁’𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝘀𝘄𝗲𝗿? 𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲’𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗮𝗴𝗶𝗰 𝘄𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗲𝗻𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲𝘀 𝗮 𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗽𝘆 𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴?

There are many options, answers, tips, and tricks but the truth is, everyone and every situation is different. There isn’t a one-size-fits-all solution.

Delegation, self-care, and finding a sounding board are all important, but those options may not feel possible when we’re in the thick of it.

𝗦𝗼 𝗯𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗸 𝗶𝘁 𝗱𝗼𝘄𝗻. What can you do today that would give you some peace, some control, a bright spot in your day? What can you control? Who do you have in your company or world that can lend a hand to take something off your plate?

𝗠𝘆 𝘀𝘂𝗴𝗴𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀…𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘀𝘂𝗴𝗴𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗮𝘀 𝗜 𝗮𝗯𝘀𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗲𝗹𝘆 𝗱𝗼𝗻’𝘁 𝘄𝗮𝗹𝗸 𝗶𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗲𝘀…𝘁𝗿𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝗸𝗲𝗲𝗽 𝗮 𝗳𝗲𝘄 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗸, 𝗺𝗶𝗱-𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗸, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗲𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗸:

Look at the bigger picture. Step back and think of where you want your business to be in 5 years and where you want to be. Setting goals that may be different from the goals you set for today and this month. Setting goals can be more like goal-posts, something to aim for and work for. Stopping points along the way to take stock and breath.

Know your limitations. You can’t and shouldn’t do it all. You can’t possibly be the expert in all things. As a business owner yes, you should know all the jobs and should be able to do them in a crunch but realistically, your time is better spent elsewhere. Know what you know and be comfortable with what you don’t know/celebrate those who can do it for you and hire them! Nobody wears all the hats and is also successful!

When we’re in the thick of it, we often forget to take a step back and follow the obvious tips that we all know about.

Time management and boundaries. These go hand in hand. What good is setting time frames if we don’t keep to them?

Realistic goals. Set goals but set goals that work for you and get not only your business but yourself to the endpoint that you want and keeps you sane and happy as well!

𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗮𝗽...𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗳 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗸𝗲𝗲𝗽 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗲𝘆𝗲 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗶𝘇𝗲. 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘆 𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗱𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝘄𝗵𝘆 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗵 𝗼𝗳 𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽.

For more insight or guidance on your goals and to-do list, reach out for a conversation on how we can keep you on track. As a Virtual Assistant and Coach-Consultant, I wear a few hats (not too many) and my goal is to support entrepreneurs and business owners.
